AFP Central Florida Chapter Scholarships
Thank you for your interest in the AFP Scholarship Program. Below you
will find several categories of scholarships,
and a separate pplication Form.
Please read the instructions carefully and submit the documentation required to:

Your application will be reviewed as soon as possible by the Chapter Review Committee and
we will contact you regarding the results.
There is one Application Form
available for all scholarships to be completed by applicants.
New and Renewing scholarships will cover the cost of AFP International membership;
recipients will be responsible for paying local chapter dues of $40.00.

New Member Scholarship
The Central Florida Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) will provide
new member scholarships to first time AFP members based on funding availability.
The scholarship amount covers the membership fee to AFP
International for one year, and the Central Florida Chapter membership dues for one year.
Luncheon/Program meetings are held monthly at an additional cost to your membership.
Meeting attendance is not required, but is strongly encouraged
for all scholarship recipients.
In addition, the recipient will serve on any committee of the AFP board.

Recipient Requirements:
- The Chapter Administrator will mail you a check made out to AFP for the amount of your award.
It is your responsibility to mail the check into the AFP International office along with your
completed AFP Membership Application. Membership Applications can be obtained by following

Recipients must serve on at least one local chapter committee. A member of the board will
contact you after your award to help you select your committee assignment.
Schedule:
Applications are received and reviewed throughout the year.

Up to Four (4) New Member Scholarships could be awarded.

Renewing Member Scholarship
Candidates may apply for a scholarship for up to 50% of the membership dues
in a year that is not their initial year with AFP for the Central Florida Chapter.
The scholarship amount covers half of the regular membership fee
to AFP International and your chapter dues for one year.
You and/or your organization will be responsible for paying the remainder of the membership fee.
Luncheon/Program meetings are held monthly at an additional cost to your membership.
Meeting attendance is not required, but is strongly encouraged for all scholarship
recipients.
Renewing Membership scholarships are available for application by any member who has a financial need.
Priority is given to those applicants who have been active members in the past, who have served on a
committee, attended meetings, etc.

2014 International Conference
2014 International Conference Scholarship
This scholarship will provide up to $1500.00 to defray expenses to attend the Annual
AFP International Conference.
The total anticipated cost of the conference is $595 for members if the applications
are received by the deadlines
below. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the scholarship recipient.
Application Requirements:
Please answer the following questions.
- Are you an AFP Member and have been so for at least one year? (Y / N)
- Describe your chapter participation.
- Do you have at least one year of experience in the fundraising Profession? (Y / N)
- What is the size of your organizational budget? $__________

Have you attended the AFP International Conference before? (Y / N)

Required Attachments:
Include these items below along with your answers to the questions above with your final submission:
- A letter of endorsement from your Executive Director, Board Chairman or direct supervisor as
to their support and understanding of your application for this scholarship.
- A completed Scholarship Application .
- A statement of need on why you are applying for this scholarship (limit to one paragraph –
can be included in the space provided at the bottom of the application form)
Recipient Requirements:
- Attend the Conference
- Submit a one paragraph evaluation on the value of the scholarship within 30 days of conference attendance.
Schedule:
Applications will be accepted beginning August 1 and must be submitted by September 1.
Availability:
One (1) International Conference Scholarships could be awarded. Scholarship awards will be
spread among medium and small organizations.
International Chamberlain Scholarship
for the 2014 AFP International Conference
This scholarship will provide funds to cover the cost of registration and travel expenses to attend the Annual
AFP International Conference. It is awarded based on past service to the chapter and future leadership potential.
This scholarship is collaboration between the chapter and AFP International.
Restrictions:
- All candidates must be employed full-time in the fundraising profession for not more than five full years.
- The candidate cannot have previously attended an NSFRE/AFP International Conference on Fundraising.
Application Requirements:
- A completed Scholarship Application
- A one page narrative explaining why the candidate should receive the scholarship and how the candidate's
organization will benefit from the candidate attending the conference.
- The candidate’s resume.
- Information regarding the candidate’s service to philanthropy and the not-for-profit sector.
Recipient Requirements:
- Attend the Conference
- Submit a one page report on the value of the scholarship within 30 days of conference attendance.
Schedule:
Applications will be accepted beginning August 1 and must be submitted by September 30.
Availability:
Only one (1) International Chamberlin Scholarship will be awarded for the 2013 conference in the maximum
amount of $1500 to cover registration and travel expenses. Receipts must be submitted for reimbursement.
Education
CFRE Review / Other
Educational Grants can be awarded in any of the following areas:
Application Requirements:
A completed Scholarship Application.
Recipient Requirements:
- Register and Attend the Activity.
- Recipients may be asked to provide a verbal report about the benefit of the scholarship
received at a future meeting of the chapter to encourage others to pursue further education
in the field.
Availability:
Applications received throughout the year.
Planet Philanthropy Conference Scholarship
Educational Grants will be awarded for the annual Planet Philanthropy Conference
in the amount of $75.00. Cost of registration must be paid in advance; scholarship
award winners will receive a $75 rebate check in the mail by July 31. Travel is
to be paid by the recipient of the scholarship.
Required Attachments:
- A completed Scholarship Application.

of the application form).
Recipient Requirements:
- Complete application prior to deadline.
- Attend the conference and educational sessions.
- Provide proof of registration.
Schedule:
Applications must be received by June 28, 2013.
Availability:
Up to Four (10) scholarships will be awarded to the conference in the amount of $75.00 each.
