Position Summary The Community Development Coordinator's(CDC) primary responsibility is to seek, develop and nurture continuing opportunities for fundraising, community awareness and community partnerships.  responsibilities include researching potential funding sources and developing plans to reach out and secure short and long-term commitments from these sources to provide support through donations-financial, services, equipment and resources to ensure long-term program viability.  The CDC also assists with grant writing.  Essential Job Duties -Assists the Executive Director(ED) with board relations to include attending all board meetings and functions and providing the necessary administrative support at such. -Assists the ED wit public relations to include making presentations to outside organizations and individuals, guiding formal tours of the facilities and coordinating special events at the institute(i.e. student graduations, volunteer recognition dinners etc.) -Continuously updates grant proposals and funding ideas -Prepares grant applications including writing or amending program description and compiling required data -Enters and , maintains data om Raiser's Edge database -Solicits sponsorships and donations for community events -Attends local job fairs, Juvenile Justice events, and other community events to distribute information and increase public awareness -Administers first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with Red cross standards -Assist with special projects and other duties as needed Minimum Education Training and Experience -Associates degree required, Bachelor's preferred , with an emphasis in business and/or fundraising. -One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience - Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Internet research   Certifications, Licenses and Registrations -Must satisfy criminal background check and drug screening as defined by state requirements. -Current certification as a CPR and first Aid by a nationally recognized organization(e.g. American Heart Assoc.) -Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license in the state of employment(CL may be required with State specific     endorsement) Key Competencies -     Strong attention to detail and accuracy -     Strong problem analysis and resolution skills -     Ability to plan and organize work to ensure deadlines are met -     Ability to research and issue and gather relevant information -     Strong communication skills -     Strong follow-up skills -     Ability to switch priorities and multi-task -     Exceptional integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality Environmental Conditions Work is typically performed in usual office conditions with  rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.  Some tasks include potential for intermittent exposure to outdoor elements, e.g. heat, humidity, inclement weather.  Some may involve working in and around moving vehicles and associated vehicle/equipment areas, where heightened awareness to surroundings and observance of established safety precautions is essential in avoidance of injury or accidents.  Due to the nature and location of the work environment, incumbent must possess a tolerance and ability for working with adjudicated youths between the ages or 14 and 18.  Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear.  The staff member is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
